Some of my work.

But rest asured there is plenty more where these came from.

Congress.org

Project details

A news and informational website that allows users to contact their elected officials.

Design, HTML, CSS, Web development

Goal: to completely re-architecture and redesign Congress.org to transform the previously static website into a more dynamic news and information site.

My role: I partnered with editorial, project managers, developers, and other UX designers to develop the front-end HTML/CSS of the website design, news, article, and account management pages.

Capwiz: Navigation rework

Project details

A web application that allows organizations to influence Congress. In this redesign, we restructured the IA and improve the design of the CMS navigation.

User Experience, Information Architecture, HTML, CSS, jQuery

Goal: to improve the information architecture and design of the Capwiz CMS navigation.

My role: Gaining insights from the Account Managers, I worked with the UX team and employed a bottom-up information architecture technique. We identified all the tasks that users do and defined the overarching taxonomy that can best organize the IA. Using a working prototype (HTML/CSS/jQuery), we test the IA in front of a focus group for validation and acceptance.

Capwiz: Improving workflow

Project details

Within Capwiz there is quite a bit of confusion of how user publishes content. We redesigned the content publishing workflow to be more straightforward and obvious.

Concept, Focus group, Design

Goal: to design for a wizard-based content publishing process that is more intuitive to the user.

My role: I performed a heuristic evaluation of how the users currently publish content and mocked up a solution that improves the workflow. By partnering up with product and account managers, I tested my design for initial validation to see if it will solve the problem. The redesigned workflow was then presented in front of a focus group for acceptance.

Capwiz: Design enhancements

Project details

A redesign of the Capwiz reports landing page. This page is essential as it provides entry points to many different types of activity reports users can run.

Heuristic evaluation, Design, HTML, CSS

Goal: to improve the usability of reports landing page that looked like they were stuck in "1992"

My role: I took initiative and redesigned a page that had garnered some major complaints from clients, account managers, and sales team. The page presented an overwhelming amount of information with very little focus on prominence and visual hierarchy. By adding white space and emphasizing/de-emphasizing certain elements, the redesign results in a page that is more usable, useful, and marketable.

Broadway Gallery

Project details

Broadway Gallery is a Virginia art gallery with 30 years of experience of complete art services.

Client interview, Design, PHP, HTML, CSS, jQuery

Goal: to redesign the art gallery website with the ability to showcase their artwork for sale and increase search engine visibility

My role: As a lead designer, front-end developer, and project manager, I worked with the client and developer to make sure the project solves their business goals and is delivered on time. After the initial client interview, I was able to gauge their needs and communicated our solutions in the form of wireframes and mockups. When development started, I developed the HTML/CSS for the site.

Capwiz: Improving user experience

Project details

A redesign of Capwiz newsletter user interface. Sensitivity to content formatting and email look and feel are essential to improving the UX of our clients.

User research, Usability test, Concept, Wireframe, Design, HTML, CSS

Goal: to reduce call volumes relating to frustration of composing an email tool by improving the UI interaction

My role: I initially met with the account management team to understand the core of the problem. By researching and working with other UX designers, we designed a solution that resulted in a more refined user interaction to compose an email.
